Most of the tourist who visit Oslob Cebu, do so for the whale sharks and although that is what has put this little highway town on the map, there is more to Oslob, than meets the eye.
On the hike up to the falls
Sure, swimming with the whale sharks is by far on of the greatest adventures ever and one of the most incredible experiences you could encounter with wildlife (check out the video here), however it would be a shame for you to visit Oslob, Cebu only for that one main attraction.
Before we even visited we had our sights set on the whale sharks, but, you should also visit the Tumalog Falls. There is a great hike to the falls from the main road in Oslob and it is superbly scenic to say the least. Whilst it is cheap to jump in a tricycle or on the back of a motorbike, you would be missing half the joy of witnessing the Tumalog Falls. The climb itself is quite steep, so in summer make sure to take plenty of drinking water and it’s a lot more gratifying once you reach the fresh water falls after a solid hike up hill.
Tumalog Falls in Oslob Cebu
Take your camera too, because the views on the way up and down are magnificent and the beauty of the falls is also something to boast about. Even if you are visiting Oslob, Cebu for just a day, you could swim with the whale sharks in the morning and in the afternoon head up the hill to take in the exquisiteness of the Tumalog Falls, which is exactly what we did. And, to be honest it was one of the greatest days that I had on that whole 6 month stint that I did travelling through Asia.
The hike up to the falls
So don’t look past visiting the Tumalog Falls in Oslob, Cebu. Either hit it up after or before your swim with the whale sharks, but, I suggest you don’t leave it off your itinerary, because you will be sorry.
